Research Scientist, Artificial Intelligence

Job Summary

Quantum Surgical is looking for an AI Research Scientist to join a team of creative and energetic engineers who are building the next generation of smart tools for minimally invasive therapies.

The AI Research Scientist will play a key role in the design and development of novel intelligent algorithms addressing the challenges of image-guided surgery: Computer Vision, Image Analysis, Image Processing, Bio-mechanical Modeling, Computer Assisted Detection and Clinical Decision Support systems.

The AI Research Scientist should have a demonstrated experience in enabling Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques in Medical Imaging industrial solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead innovation, development, and prototyping of novel AI algorithms
  • Stay up to date with the state-of-the-art of the Machine Learning field
  • Provide expertise and guidance on AI-related techniques solving clinical needs
  • Prototype, design, implement and validate AI-related technologies
  • Design, process, cleanse and verify the data used for analysis
  • Supervise model training, model updates
  • Create automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of algorithm performance
  • Document and communicate on algorithm performance
  • Work with the software engineers to transfer research results into solutions of clinical practice

Experiences and Qualifications

  • PhD in computer science, statistics or related field: physics, mathematics. Specialization in machine/deep learning is a plus
  • In-depth proficiency in machine learning techniques (e.g. k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, Neural Networks, etc.)
  • Practical experience in deep learning frameworks (e.g. Theano, Caffe, TensorFlow, CNTK, OpenCV, or Torch)
  • Experience in the medical imaging processing field
  • Excellent knowledge in the fields of numerical methods, optimization methods and data analytics
  • Proficiency in programming languages: C/C++, CUDA, Python
  • Excellent communication skills

Desired Experience

  • Academic papers in the field of machine/deep learning
  • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab
