Software Engineer, Healthcare Data Connectivity

Job Summary

Quantum Surgical is looking for a Healthcare Data Connectivity Engineer to join a team of creative and energetic engineers who are building the next generation of smart tools for minimally invasive therapies.

The Healthcare Data Connectivity Engineer will play a key role in the IT healthcare interoperability and patient data management capabilities of the application software. He/she will work closely with the other Engineering team members to design, implement and test software solutions based on clinical, user and safety requirements.

The candidate should have demonstrated experience with early stage product development, cross-functional teams and software development in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with software, mechanical, system & clinical engineers to develop an interoperable and reliable medical applications
  • Provide hands-on expertise in designing and implementing system connected with hospital IT infrastructure
  • Provide expertise on DICOM, HL7 and IHE-related standards
  • Provide expertise, assistance and software tools to implement a robust connectivity testing framework
  • Create specifications and requirements based on design inputs
  • Architecture, design and implement C++ applications
  • Perform testing and validation of selected solutions
  • Participate in design discussions and code review
  • Raise observed defects through the Quality Management System and support analysis and treatment of software bugs

Experiences and Qualifications

  • MS in Engineering, preferably related to healthcare or information systems
  • 3+ years of practical experience in implementing DICOM, HL7 and other IHE-related standards in medical imaging applications such as PACS or radiology diagnostic software
  • Familiarity with hospital interface standards (HL7, DICOM, IHE, etc.)
  • Experience with libraries and testing tools related to DICOM & HL7
  • Experience with unit testing and SW verification and validation
  • Experience with source code control and code review
  • Highly proficient in English
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Self-motivated, curious and open-minded

Desired Experience

  • Familiar with medical imaging modalities such as CT, MRI or ultrasound
  • Experience in TCP/IP based network programming
  • Familiarity with design controls in an FDA regulated environment
  • Experience with Agile software development methodology
